Nikko Day 1

In March, I made a two day trip to Nikko, which is about two hours north of Tokyo.  The small town, forested mountains, and silence feel completely different than the city.

The first day I spent at lake Chuzenji.

I went to see the Italian Embassy House, designed by Antonin Raymond, a Czech architect who practiced in Japan in the early 1900s.

The interior details were really cool!

The house was right on the water and had a deck to the water.

Lunch had a nice view:

And then I went on a hike to see some waterfalls:

At one there was a nice rest stop:

The seating inside had a view of “Dragon Head Falls”:

  1. Allison — I loved the Italian Embassy House! And rest stops certainly are done much better there than here. What a great trip it seems to have been, and a wonderful lunch venue too. Love, Dad
